About Gertrude Palmer
Fine artist, designer & illustrator, Gertrude Palmer signs her paintings simply "Gert". As a young fashionista she received the In Vivo Design Award for a collection of ethnic ski wear, the first fabricated in natural materials. Nope, South Carolina. My deceased father in law, Allen Palmer built and ran the Red Piano Gallery and was a New York illustrator and Jazz musician. He grew up in Savannah, worked in New York and Atlanta, and vacationed in Bluffton and eventually settled in Sea Pines next door to Joe Bowler. I have the complete collection of his pen & ink cartoons published in the 60's & 70's by Island packet, all are off color! Allen was responsible for inspiring other illustrators including Joe Bowler, and Ray Ellis to migrate south to HHI. Thus began the great art community of Hilton Head Island

Thank you. I am glad you liked my "Morning Mist". I appreciate your kind words about my photos. We are lucky, indeed! My husband's family is from North Carolina. Yours?
Gertrude Palmer
Margaret, you are very kind. Your "Morning Mist" is a special piece too. We are lucky to be artists in the Low Country aren't we? I wonder if we may be related through marriage?
Margaret Palmer
I love your painting of Morning Mist and thought it was an inspiring view of our Low Country.
